Ulysses, a Town on the Move in Southwest Kansas has all of the amenities needed with small town charm where everyone steps forward to help each other in a time of need. Originally located 3 miles east of the present townsite, "Old Ulysses" residents picked up the buildings of the town and pulled them by horseback on skids to the new location. The Old Hotel at the Historic Adobe Museum, one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas History, is a portion of one of the buildings that was moved. You can still view wagon wheel ruts on the Santa Fe Trail Route and explore the location of famed mountain man and trader, Jedidiah Smith.
